Why are there two payments?

Why it’s split into two payments

Pay now is the part and the postage back — the money we spend before we touch anything. Pay after is our labour, and it only gets charged once the repair passes testing. If we can’t fix it, you never pay the labour and your device comes home anyway.

How on-site pricing works

Prices on this page are mail-in prices unless you choose “We come to you” in the price finder. Mail-in prices include postage both ways and packaging. A visit does not, so we take that off and add the travel fee. Within 30 miles that works out cheaper than mailing it. Beyond 30 miles the travel fee is more than the postage it replaces, so a phone comes out a few dollars dearer. The booking page shows you both prices before you choose.

Each town is priced from its town centre. If your address is much further out than the town you pick, we tell you before anyone travels and you can cancel for a full refund.

Repair availability depends on the device and part. Liquid damage is a paid assessment, with no guarantee of recovery. Board-level microsoldering and Face ID dot-projector repairs are excluded.

FAQ

Real questions. Honest answers.

How long does the whole thing take?

We order your part when you book, and most arrive in 4–7 days. The booking page shows when it is expected before you pay. For on-site repairs we book the visit once the part is here. By mail, your phone travels to us while the part does, then it is 1–2 business days here and two to three days back, so most mail-in repairs are home in about ten days.

What if you lose or damage my phone?

Your device is covered while it’s in our hands, up to the limit set out in our terms. We ship back insured and signature-confirmed every time. We’d rather you knew the exact limit up front than found out during a dispute — it’s written down, not buried.

Do you need my passcode?

Yes, and it genuinely matters — we can’t confirm the cameras, Face ID, sensors and touch all work without getting into the phone. By mail, write it on a slip of paper in the box; on site, unlock the phone for us during the visit. We never store passcodes in our system, and you should change it after the repair.

Should I turn off Find My?

No. Leave it on. It protects you, and none of the repairs we do require it to be off. Any shop that asks you to disable it for a screen or battery job should be asked why.

Will my phone still say “Unknown Part” in Settings?

If you choose an aftermarket screen or battery on an iPhone, yes — Apple flags any non-genuine part with a notice in Settings, and a non-genuine screen can lose True Tone. It’s a software message, not a fault, and it can’t be removed by anyone. Face ID keeps working because we transfer your original components across.

What happens if you find more damage once it’s open?

We stop, photograph it, and message you with the options and what it would cost. You decide. If you’d rather not go ahead, we reassemble it and ship it back, or on site we leave it with you. You pay for the part we already bought and the return shipping (on site, the travel), and nothing for labor.

What if the repair doesn’t work?

You don’t pay the labor. By mail, we ship the phone back to you at no further charge; on site, we put it back together and leave it with you. Either way, we tell you exactly what we found. Some faults — especially after liquid damage — turn out to be on the logic board, and that’s beyond what we take on.

Why do I pay in two parts?

The amount due now covers the replacement part and return shipping, which we spend before we’ve done anything. The balance is our labor, and you pay it after the repair passes testing. It means you’re never paying for work that hasn’t happened.

Can I send a phone that isn’t mine?

Only if you have the owner’s permission and you can unlock it. We don’t work on devices that are reported lost or stolen, and we’ll return anything that looks that way.

Do you fix water-damaged phones?

Yes, but we sell it as an assessment, not a repair, because nobody can honestly price liquid damage before opening the device. You pay a fixed fee and we strip it down, clean the board ultrasonically, treat the corrosion, reassemble and test it, then tell you exactly what we found.

It is not a guaranteed fix. Some devices come back to life, some don’t, and corrosion can keep spreading weeks later — so there’s no warranty on a liquid-damaged phone. If it needs board-level microsoldering we’ll say so and point you to someone who does that. Assume your data is gone and recover it separately first.
